JCS Cataract Mission, Gabriela Silang General Hospital

One of the perennial advocacies of the JCS Founder/Chairman Jeremias “Jerry” C. Singson is the free Cataract Operation for the indigents.  The restoration of good eyesight without the need of paying a high cost is what makes the good-hearted advocate happy for his poverty-stricken province mates.  As a continuous commitment of its vows, the JCS Foundation once again sponsored a free Cataract Mission at Gabriela Silang General Hospital on August 20-21, 2010.

As early as 7:30 am, cataract patients started to come in, lined up and enlisted themselves for the free operation. Hundreds flocked into the Dept. of Ophthalmology, expecting and anticipating for their turn on this another charitable service.  SP Member Jerry Singson arrived early at the venue to supervise the administration of this goodwill project.

Five ophthalmologists from different towns and cities joined forces to conduct the operation and provide free medical treatment for these indigent patients.  Drs.. Vermudez, Donald Subia, Pablo Barroga, Jojo Cruz and Ian Moll worked voluntarily to restore their eyesights assisted by nurses Jeffrey Pablico, Daryl Rayray, Daryl Porte, Raquel Querubin.  Nurses Kevin Ricarte and Miller Bayongasan of Project Luke came all the way from Quezon City to extend assistance in this complimentary mission.  20 GSGH Nurses also gave their all out support to the patients especially after the operation.

A total of 28 patients benefited from this project by the time it ended at 8:00 pm.  Snacks, lunch and dinner were served for the doctors, volunteers and staff who participated in this fulfilling humanitarian service.
