December 15, 2008 – Narvacan

Every JCSMM is always spearheaded by Vice Governor Jeremias “Jerry” C. Singson. One of the largest number of patients, doctors and health care givers came about in the JCS Medical-Dental-Minor Surgical Mission in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur on December 15, 2008.

Other: Reflexologist from Tagudin RHU; volunteer nurses from GSGH and CISDH; medical and dental aids from vatious MHOs; student nurses from the University of Northern Philippines; Municipal officials and employees.

A total of 5,610 patients benefited from this humanitarian service, of which 4,218 underwent medical treatment; 603 pedia, 393 dental, 245 ophthalmology, 86 surgical treatment; 60 reflexology; and 5 derma.

Lunch and snacks were served at the municipal hall courtesy of Mayor Edgardo Zaragoza and Vice Mayor Charito Zaragoza. After lunch, Vice Governor JCS distributed reading glasses to eye patients preceded by a check-up and examination by Dr. Marilou Launio.

Day care chairs and tables (340 sets) were also distributed to day care workers as another favourite project of Vice Governor JCS.

Vice Governor JCS spearheaded the medical-dental mission at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Jail on November 18, 2008 in collaboration with Provincial Jail Warden Floro Martinez. The participating doctors and health workers were Provincial Board Member Dr. Gerry Lahoz; Dr. Rosalinda Quesada, Provincial Health Office (PHO); Dr. Max Butardo (PHO); Dr. Trina Tabboga (PHO); Dr. Percival Savella (PHO Dentist III); Dr. Magno Sol (PHO Dentist II); Elpidio Flores (PHO Dental Aide); and Joselito Jaramillo (PHO Dental Aide).

The mission proper was preceded by an opening program in which VG JCS gave an inspirational talk that centered on the “Justice on Wheel” whichwas loudly applauded by the inmates as many of them have not yet been brought to trial.

About 260 inmates benefited from the mission that also gave them free medicines. Those who needed surgery were referred to the Gabriela Silang General Hospital. Those found with skin problems were segregated from the main prison and given maintenance medicines.

The mission was completed by lunch time and the doctors and health workers were treated to lunch at the 888 Restaurant courtesy of Vice Governor JCS.

The JCS Medical Mission conducted its 33nd mission in Narvacan on November 15, 2008 with Mayor Edgar Zaragosa who is also the President of the Ilocos Sur Mayors League. A record-breaking 5,610 patients were served with free minor and major surgeries (86) as well as circumcision; dental (393); ophtha (245); medical (4,218); pedia (603); derma (5); reflexology (60). Free reading glasses were also distributed and 300 more were promised to be given free by December 2008.

The JCS Medical Mission conducted its mission in Sta. Mariaon October 29, 2008 with Mayor Thelma Florendo who sponsored the lunch and snacks. A total of 2,125 patients were served at the town plaza that took the doctors, nurses and staff until 8:00 p.m. to conclude the 1,129 medical, 214 dental, 225 minor surgical, 506 optical and 51 dermatological patients.

The JCS Medical Mission conducted its 32nd mission in the Interior town of Salcedo with Mayor Leonofre Gironella on October 2-3, 2008. 183 patients were served: 27 surgery; 1 medical; 4 dental; 4 circumcision; and 25 excision.

The 17th medical mission for 2008 was held at the town plaza of Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur in cooperation with Mayor Virgilio Valle that benefited 5,160 patients who were mostly senior citizens of whom 2,575 had medical care, 1,429 dental, 254 surgical 275, 556 optical and 71 dermatological.

They were welcomed by Vice Mayor Rodrigo Romano and some barangay officials. The doctors, Municipal Health Officers and volunteer nurses who participated were Dr. John Lopez (MHO Tagudin); Dr. Boying Degracia (Sinait District Hospital); Dr. Amando Agdeppa (SDH Chief of Hospital); Dr. Shirley Luna (MHO San Emilio); Dr. Leticia De Vera (Sta. Lucia District Hospital); Dr. Flordeliza de la Vega (CISDH Dentist II); Dr. Melanie Manuel (CISDH Dentist II); Dr. Nona Apostol; Dr. Federico Anaen, Jr. (Salcedo District Hospital Chief); Dr. Carmeliza Singson (Provincial Health Officer); Dr. Lourdes Cambe (CISDH); Dr. Percival Savella (GSGH Dentist); Dr. Hayendina Pascua (MHO Lidlidda); Dr. Trina Tabboga (GSGH); Dr. Edna Rabena (GSGH); Mr. Wesley Cabacungan (Nurse Narvacan); Ms. Lilia Aquino (Nurse Narvacan); and Ms. Elena Laranang (Rural Health Midwife).

They were augmented by the Vice Governor’s Office staff Ms. Nenita Alamar, Ms. Melba Amano, and Mr. Edwin Castillo. They were also assisted by student nurses from the University of Baguio, along with a reflexologist from ASAP Tagudin.

The JCS Medical Mission under the leadership of Vice Governor Jeremias “Jerry” C. Singson conducted a medical/dental/minor surgical mission on September 13, 2008 in cooperation with Mayor Roque Verzosa, Jr. who provided the venue and lunch at the plaza gymnasium. This was co-sponsored by the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) which sent its delegation from Manila.

The doctors who participated were Dr. Joseph V. Advincula (Dentist); Dr. Federico Anaen (Salcedo Medicare Community Hospital Chief); Dr. Efren Cabanit (Centist); Dr. Jewel Cruzat (Dentist); Dr. Marianne Dauz (Medical Officer III); Dr. Diana Lim (Medical Officer III); Dr. Aly John S. Lopez (Tagudin Municipal Health Officer); Dr. Angel Ann L. Ong (Capas, Tarlac Municipal Dentist); Dr. Mary Rose D. Pilar (Central Ilocos Sur District Hospital, Narvacan); Dr. Gaudenica Ramos (Medical Officer III); Dr. Harriet Joy A. Reyno (Dentist); Dr. Garret Robles (Dentist); Dr. Percival Savella (GSGH Dentist); Dr. Leticia de Vera (Sta. Lucia District Hospital Chief); Dr. Marrie Anna Zaide (Dentist);

The pharmacists who participated were Ms. Marian Gay M. Abendanio; Ms. Erma F. Dupan, and Ms. Yasmin V. Nu, Jhoanne E. Jubilo (volunteer nurse). The nursing instructors were Mr. Emerson M. Barbosa, Mr. Mc Eddieson Gallenero and Mr. Arnie S. Lazaro.

Nurses who rendered services were Ms. Michelle Lontok, Mr. Alexander Dennis M. Savellano (DOH-BHDT), and Ms. Karen Faye Sunio. They were reinforced by the PCMC delegation composed of Ms. Glorifin Palaguittu (nurse), Mr. Michael Angelo U. Gatan (nurse), Ms. Guadalupe J. Ilarde (midwife), Ms. Leticia J. Morales (midwife) and Ms. Rowena L. Pacifico (clerk) and Ms. Maria Fe Ranchez (nurse).

Student nurses were Leilani Alvarez, Opalyn Ancheta, Monaline Chrisella Cajucom, Mark Ghil F. Madriaga, Mary Joie R. Mendoza, Dona Jeanne C. del Rosario, Joylet C. Perez, and Ronel T. Suarez.

Also participating were Mr. Robert Santiago (Dental Aide), Ms. Emylinda J. Ramirez (Reflexologist, ASAP Tagudin) and Ms. Violeta A. Salazar (Reflexologist, ASAP Tagudin).

Mayor Jun Verzosa distributed malunggay-flavored polvoron produced by the Barangay Health Workers. Calamansi juice is a Tagudin One Town-One Product (OTOP) which were served as refreshment to the mission volunteers.

A otal of 1,985qpatients benefited from this humanitarian service with free medicines given to indigents. Break down are 924 adults, 792 pedia, 123 dental, 99 minor surgery, and 47 reflexology therapy.

The mission was concluded at 6:00 p.m.

The JCS Medical Mission joined the Bombo Medico mission of DZVV Bombo Radyo at the Vigan Gymnasium on July 06, 2008. For this, the JCS Medical Mission contributed its stock of medicines.That benefited 1,035 patients: 410 medical; 350 pedia; 275 dental.

The 20th local government beneficiary of the JCS Medical Mission was the northernmost municipality of Sinait with Mayor Marlon Ines. Of the 1,690 patients treated, 971 were medical in nature, 516 pedia, 69 dental, 113 minor surgery, and 21 were denied treatment due to high blood pressure.

March 8-9,2008 – Narvacan

The 18th local government beneficiary of the JCS Medical Mission was the progressive municipality of Narvacan in partnership with the U.S.-based Worldwide Narvacaneans (WWN) that benefited 1,268 mostly poor patients of whom 629 were adults, 361 pedia,211 dental and 67 ophtha and 33 x-ray/ECG.

Dr. Audie Narcise is the Chief of the Central District Hospital where the mission was held. The Worldwide Narvacaneans inaugurated a Medical Emergency Response Center which thegroup donated beside the hospital.

The upland municipality of Suyo became the 17th overall local government beneficiary of the JCS Medical Mission held on February 29, 2008. 1,079 patients of mostly indigent families were treated, composed of 833 medical, 633 pedia, 103 minor surgery, and 89 for dental.
